During Advent, Vienna is a city of nostalgia and romance, with delightful concerts and nativity plays all over the city. The city shimmers in a mild glow of candles, while the sweet aromas of gingerbread, mulled wine and Christmas baking pervade the air. Located on just about every street corner in Vienna, you will find 'Christkindlmarkte' - small huts selling all sorts of traditional gifts and delicious foods. Take a stroll in the Rathausplatz (City Hall Park) amongst the elaborately decorated trees and enjoy the wonderful Christmas atmosphere.

Follow the delicious sweet aroma of roasted almonds, hot chestnuts, gingerbread and mulled wine and you will find Salzburg's most famous Christmas market. Located within the great scenery of the Dom and the Residenz Palace, Salzburg's festive market is surrounded by the sound of the choir singing in front of the picturesque cathedral. Take a horse drawn carriage ride through the old city, admiring twinkling Christmas lights that become brighter and brighter as the night draws in. And if you are lucky enough to be here when the snow starts to fall, it is a magical experience.
