Stockholm

Scandinavia

From the twinkling lights and magnificent Christmas tree of Stockholm, to Helsinki’s traditional handicrafts and steaming glogg, and the unique location of Tivoli Park that hosts Copenhagen’s market, Christmas markets in Scandinavia are something really special. Winding medieval streets burst with charming stalls selling local seasonal fare, handcrafted gifts and an abundance of mouth-watering traditional Scandinavian delicacies, whilst at night enjoy ice-skating under the stars and pay a visit to open air stages and watch an array of concerts and pantomimes to get you in the festive spirit.

Stockholm Christmas Market

Stockholm

Christmas and Stockholm go hand-in-hand, and by December the city is a-flicker with candles and Advent stars that twinkle in the intricately decorated shop windows. Four areas of the city host Advent markets, with our favourite being the enchanting setting of Gamla Stan. Here, the winding medieval streets burst with stalls selling local seasonal fare, handcrafted toys and ornaments and an abundance of glogg. The open air museum in Stockholm is totally transformed during the festive season and is well worth a visit.

Helsinki Christmas Market

Helsinki

Helsinki’s Christmas markets are often overlooked, but they are among the most charming in Europe and are one of the best things about Helsinki. Spanning the 21 days before Christmas you will find three main traditional Christmas markets. Pay a visit to the Esplanade where you will find over 120 stalls packed with Finnish festive goods – especially handicrafts. Sample some of the local delights and wash them down with a steaming mug of mulled wine or warm schnapps.
