  • Overview

Well known as the Monte Carlo of the Atlantic Coast until World War II.  Today the town has an air of glamour, combined with a charming blend of shabby chic.  The seashore is truly beautiful and known as a surfers paradise, especially the famous La Côte des Basques beach. The cobbled streets, large courtyards and small open-front shops give this seaside town a totally relaxed atmosphere with a hint of glitz and glamour.

Food and Drink

The main square in Biarritz, Place Clemenceau, is full of bustling cafes and restaurants offering a range of international cuisine as well as delicious pâtisseries. Local specialities include glorious seafood and fresh fish marinated in herbs, served with spinach.

Shopping
Biarritz has some great boutiques with exclusive brands such as Hermès. You’ll also find one of the largest department stores, Galeries Lafayette, which has everything you would ever need. However, you’ll also find some extravagant art and antique shops selling some absolute treasures.
