Overview

Specially commissioned by the New York Life Insurance company in 1894, the spectacular New York Palace is one of Budapest’s finest buildings. Renovated in 2006 the building was brought back to its original splendour, with interiors given an old world prestige combined with sophisticated contemporary design. This is exemplified on arrival by the magnificent glass topped lobby in the converted central courtyard. The focal point of the hotel is the historic New York Café which was the centre of Budapest's vibrant artistic and cultural life at the turn of the twenty-first century. The café has been restored with amazing attention to detail. Viewing the awe inspiring ceiling frescoes that made the café famous, and dining amongst the refined décor of crystal, marble and gold is like stepping back in time.
