Where To Stay
- Stresa, situated on the western shore, is well regarded for its villas and lush gardens. By the middle half of the 19th century the town was already the most elegant place to stay on Lake Maggiore. With the panoramic views towards the Borromean Islands, the first-time visitor cannot fail to be pleased by the town’s beauty, and it is easy to understand why so many visitors return to Stresa year after year.
- At the rear of the town, a cable car ascends the peak of Monte Mottarone, a snow-capped peak offering spectacular scenic views. Many of the boats for the Borromean Islands depart from Stresa during the summer months.
- The Stresa Musical Weeks, when classical concerts are performed outdoors, take place annually during August and September and draw many visitors to the town.
- Three Lakes Tour - Visit Lake Como, Lake Lugano in Switzerland and return to Lake Maggiore.
- Zermatt and the Matterhorn tour - Take a drive along the Ossola Valley, through Domodossola, along the Simplon road through some very impressive scenery into Switzerland. The tour continues along Napoleon’s road and up and over the Simplon Pass, continuing by mountain train to Zermatt where you can enjoy free time and Matterhorn views.
- Milan City Tour - A guided tour to include Piazza La Scala, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Monumental Cemetery, Sforza Castle and with free time in this elegant city.
