Food and Drink
Naples is the home of the pizza - make sure you try one of the thin-based margherita pizzas or a calzone, which is the folded version, in the city’s many pizzerias. The area is also famed for the production of the delicious, milky mozzarella di bufala; you will find this on many restaurant menus, either served with delicious prosciutto or as a salad with tomatoes, known as a caprese salad.
For a smarter occasion try one of the excellent restaurants in the Santa Lucia harbour of Naples, whilst in Sorrento, the Il Buco restaurant is one of the best addresses in town. The iced Limoncello lemon liqueur is made locally and must be sampled before you go home.Shopping
Be sure to browse the shops in the beautiful 19th-century Galleria Umberto I in Naples, with its glazed domed roof. In the old town of Sorrento, the narrow streets are brimming with shops selling local souvenirs, whereas the smart Corso Italia is filled with elegant stores and designer boutiques.
Where To Stay
In the busy town of Sorrento, you can choose to be closer to the town centre or in an elevated position overlooking the town and the Bay of Naples.
Things To Do

  • Take the Amalfi drive, which passes through the many pastel-painted towns dotted along this breathtaking stretch of coastline.
