Jordan...
Spectacular unspoilt landscapes reminiscent of Biblical scenes, dotted with ancient ruins and enchanting geographical wonders. Venture into Jordan's unspoilt wilderness, where historical sites from past civilisations will fuel your imagination. Home to the unique, therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea and with its Red Sea resort acting as a window on its colourful marine life, Jordan is a truly diverse destination! Jordan borders on the world-renowned phenomenon known as the Dead Sea, where you can float in its therapeutic mineral waters at the deepest point of the earth's crust. Nearby hotels harness the mineral-laden properties of the sea's water and mud, converting them into a variety of treatments. Jordan is dotted with Roman ruins but Jerash, north of the capital, is a superbly well-preserved Roman city, making a dramatic location for its own, two-week festival during the Summer. Wadi Rum is a particularly mountainous area of Jordan which also has the country's highest peak, Jebel Rum, standing 1,754 metres high. Camping and climbing are popular here but organised camel treks are a must for many of the region's visitors. Desert Palaces are one of the curiosities of the Middle East. The fort of Qasr Al- Kharraneh in its barren location is most obviously used for defensive purposes yet Qasr Amra is a charming, 8th century desert palace, its rich frescoes hinting at its use as a getaway, thought to be the earliest known example of Muslim picture art. Qasr Azraq evolved from a Roman construction and more recently became associated with Lawrence Of Arabia.
