  • Castle Hill Take the tourist train up to the castle for stunning views of the city and to explore the Gothic/baroque fortress.

Must Do
  • Spend some time on the water: take a sightseeing boat or hire a canoe on the Lubljanica River.
  • Find your inner artist by joining a workshop at the weekly art market near the Cobbler's Bridge.
  • Spend one or two nights at Lake Bled, a beautiful glacial lake 55km north of Ljubljana. An area of outstanding natural beauty, the lake is fringed by forests and a magnificent castle, and has the Julian Alps as its backdrop.

Slovenian cuisine is rich and varied, taking influences from both the Mediterranean and central Europe.
Shopping
For something more traditional, look in the Old Town for sweets, jewellery, porcelain, handblown glass, antiques and artworks.

As it is so compact, Ljubljana is really a walking city. Our hotels are situated very close to the Old Town which hugs the slopes of Castle Hill.

  • BLED AND BOHINJ VALLEY From Ljubljana visit the world-famous Alpine resort with its picturesque island and castle. Followed by a visit to Bohinj, the main resort in the nearby Triglav National Park. Only Bohinj Valley from Bled is a half-day tour.
  • BLED SIGHTSEEING Visit the main attractions including entrance to the castle and a boat trip to the island.
  • JULIAN ALPS Take a day trip to the Triglav National Park, which forms a large part of this Alpine range dominated by Triglav Mountain, Slovenia's highest peak.

Be sure to experience the open market between the Dragon and Triple bridges, especially on a Saturday morning for an authentic slice of life in the city.
