La Croisette The long boulevard along the seafront is the sight to see in Cannes. It has hotels and luxury boutiques on one side and private beaches on the other. Also, make sure you don't miss Vieux Port with its fishing boats and luxury yachts on the other side. 

The Old Town Explore the narrow winding streets brimming with restaurants, bars and souvenir shops before heading up to the ruins of the old castle for fantastic views from the top.

Palais de Film Festival Visit the Palais, which stands on the east side of the Canne's Old Port. Walk around the elegant gala rooms and auditorium which the annual film festival is held.

Take a ferry trip to Iles de Lerins. Two islands in the bay, the samller of which, St Honorat, boasts a monastery which sells its own local products, and the larger, Ste Marguerite, has shops, bars, restaurants and an old castle ruin.

The area provides traditional Provencal cooking with specials ranging from beef strew to stuffed rabbit, and a firm favourite is succulent fresh fish straight from the harbour served with fresh Provencal herbs and stunning salads. Accompany these with the local red, white or rose wines that can rarely be sampled anywhere other than the French Riviera.

Alternatively, why not relax and socialise over one of the signature cocktails served in all the cosmopolitan bars.
