Great Drives

Great Self Drives

Winding country roads, friendly people and stunning scenery are the ingredients for a fantastic holiday by car.  Ireland seems to have been made for touring, combining driving on the left, no language barriers and a welcoming country pub at the end of the day. With an abundance of rocky cliffs and sandy beaches the coastal roads are rightly famous as some of the most spectacular driving routes anywhere.  However don't just stick to the coast, as the vast bog lands and snaking mountain passes are equally rewarding.

Ireland Road

Ireland is relatively small so it is easy to travel between main towns and sights. Although there are motorways much of the network is single carriageways, but this is the joy of driving here, every road feels like you are really off the beaten track. Our Ireland experts have put together three recommended driving itineraries, each lasting five to seven days and covering areas of natural beauty and cultural interest.
