Big at heart, this compact city built around the River Limmat and the edge of Lake Zurich combines the charm of its mediaeval Old Town with the romance of the lakeshore. Colourful clock towers and steeples dominate the skyline, whilst in the bustling streets, on a city break to Zurich you will find elegant shops, beautiful squares, cosy pubs and fashionable restaurants. An excellent choice, Zurich is both a fascinating city and a holiday resort rolled into one.
A good way to initially familiarise yourself with Zurich's city centre is to take a stroll down Bahnhofstrasse towards Fraumünster church, cross the Limmat river and wander back through the streets of the Old Town towards the main station. On a Cresta city break, shop for designer clothes, chocolate and jewellery on Bahnhofstrasse and trendy Zurich West is the place to go for discovering labels by young and local designers.
The Kunsthaus is must to see on your short break, see works by Picasso and the impressionists or you could take a trip to the Zoo and explore the Masoala rainforest. For traditional and local gifts the Christmas markets are held daily approx. 26 Nov-24 Dec. Free admission or discounts for various attractions are included in the ZürichCARD which you can buy in advance - please ask for details.
Please Note: Rail travel is not included in the price of your holiday.
